What is Music Haptics?
In simple terms, Music Haptics uses your iPhone's Taptic Engine to provide synchronized tactile feedback while you're listening to music. This feedback can range from subtle taps to full, sustained vibrations, all in sync with the beat of the song. It's not just about enhancing the listening experience; it also makes music more accessible to those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
As Jake Peterson from Lifehacker puts it, "These aren't annoying, uniform buzzes, either. Because the feature uses haptic vibrations powered by your iPhone's Taptic Engine, iOS can employ a variety of different taps and vibrations, from subtle staccatos to full, sustained reverberations." [^1]
How to Enable Music Haptics?
Enabling this feature is quite simple:
- Open your iPhone's Settings
- Go to "Accessibility"
- Scroll down to the HEARING section and tap "Music Haptics"
- Toggle on the feature
Once enabled, you'll see a Music Haptics button below the playback bar in supported apps. You can tap this button anytime to pause the haptics.
Which Apps Support Music Haptics?

- Apple Music

- Other supported third-party music apps
Compatible Devices
